A FUNERAL mass will be held today for one of the men killed in a fire at a family home in Macroom in the early hours of Monday morning.

Noel O’Mahony, 62, and Kenneth Relihan, 27, died in a fire started shortly before 4am at a two storey house in St Colman’s Park in Macroom.
Mr Relihan’s mother, Nóirín McAuliffe, jumped from an upstairs window to escape the blaze.
Mr O’Mahony, originally from Cakanode, Clondrohid outside Macroom, was a family friend who was visiting the home. The father of three was described by locals as a larger than life character. Previously a furniture salesman, he was also known locally as a singer in a popular pub band in the locality in the 1990s.
Mr O’Mahony became a great-grandfather last year.
A funeral mass will be held for Mr O’Mahony at 2pm today before a burial in Clondrohid Cemetary. He is survived by his wife Shiela and adult daughters Noreen, Paula and Joanne.
Gardaí believe the fire started accidentally in a downstairs room in the house.in the cul de sac.
