HEROIN worth €7,500 was seized from a 22-year-old male on MacCurtain Street yesterday.
The Lithuanian national was stopped and searched before he was arrested and detained at Mayfield Garda Station where he will be questioned today.
The man was not previously known to gardaí.
According to gardaí, a number of Lithuanian nationals have been arrested recently for possession of heroin with intent to supply.
Heroin use continues to be a serious problem in Cork City according to gardaí.
Cork City’s Drug Squad have a specific Heroin Unit who target heroin supply in the city.
