The actress, who refrained from spilling any dreaded show spoilers, said she doesn’t often get to visit the Republic of Ireland but, when she does, she makes a bee-line for the Rebel County.
“I don’t get to come to Ireland as often as I’d like,” she admitted.
“I’ve been to Kinsale and to Baltimore as well and they were both absolutely beautiful. The scenery there, and the landscape, it’s my favourite thing about Ireland. Well, that and the food!” Natalie, a British actress, first fell in love with the country when filming The Tudors with Cork actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
While on set, she fell for Irish director Anthony Byrne, who she is now engaged to. Anthony said he has been actively showing Natalie around the country, including many road trips to Cork, West Cork and beyond. While the actress, who plays the formidable character of Margaery Tyrell, remained tight-lipped about Game of Thrones and plans for the future of the series, she said she thought this season was the best yet.
“We’re on uncharted territory here. We’re beyond the books so you could argue that this is the greatest season ever because nobody knows what’s coming.”
Meanwhile, fellow Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen was spotted in Cork at the weekend. He is reportedly dating Cork singing star Camille O’Sullivan.
