Ramona Bo Fagan, affectionately known to her friends as Mona or Monz, died tragically on June 15 when she fell from a balcony in Tenerife.

The 22-year-old’s body was returned to Cork after the incident, with help from the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, and was cremated in a ceremony in Ringaskiddy on Saturday.

Family friend, Siobhain Whiteford, described Ramona as “an amazing, sassy, vibrant person” who “enriched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her”.

She said there were “no words” to describe how thankful Ramona’s family are for all the support they have received from friends, neighbours, colleagues and the wider community at this difficult time.

Meanwhile, a group of Ramona’s closest friends gathered the night before the cremation to release sky lanterns in memory of the Ballinderry Park beauty.

“The impact Ramona made on everyone is outstanding and if it hasn’t showed enough before, it really has in the past few days,” said close friend Hayleigh Looney.

“I don’t have words to describe how proud I am of each and every one of the girls. It’s amazing watching how strong they all are and how much we are all helping each other out through this horrific time.”

Hayleigh said her tight knit group of friends have been reminiscing about Ramona and “the things she used to come out with”.

She said Ramona was “just a beautiful person all round” and vowed she would never be forgotten.

Ramona is survived by her sister Hannah Eve and her parents, Suzanne and Ger Sexton. Since the tragic incident which claimed the life of their loved one, a fundraising page has been set up to contribute to the cost of repatriating Ramona’s body. So far more than €3,500 has been raised.

A coffee morning to contribute to this fund will take place tomorrow in St Joseph’s Community Centre in Mayfield between 11am and 1pm.
