The historic Saint Mary’s Church on Pope’s Quay is in the middle of a fundraising campaign for the restoration of the church and priory which are in need of urgent repair and restoration.
Eighteen months ago, a newly formed ‘Friends of Saint Mary’s Restoration Committee’ was set up and they have initiated a number of events during that period which have helped enormously with the fundraising efforts.
A further sub-committee have taken on the responsibility of organising a ‘Golf Classic’ which will take place in Castlemartyr Golf Club on July 14.
The organisers are very open to expressions of interest in the event – whether you might like to take part by entering a team, by becoming a sponsor of the event or if you would like to sponsor tees or prizes.
The coordinating secretary for the event is Carmel Irwin and she can be contacted at +353 21 4517320 (office hours) or by email cirwin@bamcontractors.ie.
Alternatively you can contact the Prior, Fr Gerard Dunne OP through the ‘contact us’ tab on this church and priory website www.dominicanscork.ie
