Street cleaner attacked in littering incident

A STREET cleaner was assaulted in Cork city centre yeterday morning after asking two women who were littering the street to stop.
The man was working on Patrick Street when he saw the two women throwing items out of a bag.
He approached the women and asked them to stop. When the women began to give him verbal abuse, the man took out his phone and videoed them.
One of the women snatched the phone from him and the two then assaulted him.
A number of tourists who were in the area at the time stopped and took photos and videoed the incident.
The man was not seriously injured and did not make a complaint to gardaí.
Nobody has been arrested.
