LET the speculation begin — insiders say that the redeveloped Páirc Uí Chaoimh will not just be primed and ready for GAA matches next summer, but also concerts.

Fans at the Michael Jackson concert at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in 1988.
Legendary heavy rock band Guns N’Roses are expected to confirm they will be bringing their Not In This Lifetime world tour to Europe next summer, while fans of Metallica are hoping the band confirms that a world tour will coincide with their new album release.
Next summer will be the last time that fans of Aerosmith will be able to see the band live, with a Dublin date already scheduled for their official Farewell tour. It may be unlikely as They already have a packed schedule throughout Europe but the lure of christening a new stadium may turn heads if a concert promoter is willing to take a chance on the Páirc.
Foo Fighters have confirmed they will play at Glastonbury and Denmark’s Roskilde Festival in June. Radiohead have a full schedule in June, including Dublin, but are wide open after Manchester dates on July 4 and 5.
While it may be all a pipedream for music lovers, what is not in doubt is that those who have missed intercounty hurling and football in Cork’s biggest arena will be in for summer excitement.
Minister for European Affairs, Dara Murphy, said: “Concerts will be wonderful at the redeveloped Páirc Uí Chaoimh, but let’s face it, we all want Cork back winning Munster finals in both hurling and football sooner rather than later. The County Board has done a remarkable job.”
