Both boys are in their Leaving Cert Year and are currently in the middle of their contemporary issues task, which is part of their Leaving Cert Applied Course. They chose to do theirs on the environmental and health issues associated with dog fouling.
They began by surveying their peers at school and what they learned was that while most students either owned or knew someone who owned a dog, few linked dog fouling with health risks and that it is a form of litter.

With the help of Majella Gould, the boys will bring a group of peers out in the local community in order to do a general clean up. They also hope to identify some suitable areas for dog fouling signage. ‘Every dog owner should know that dog fouling is illegal,’ says Seán ‘and you could get a €150 fine.’
