Another blow for Blackpool as popular business to close

HIGH rates and a lack of footfall are being blamed for the closure of a Blackpool restaurant this weekend, which will see seven job losses.
Food Capers, located on Thomas Davis Street will close its doors permanently this Friday after almost five years’ trading.
Proprietor Matthew Taylor blamed the Blackpool closure on high rates and poor footfall, due to a lack of investment in the village.
“You walk down through Blackpool and see premises closed down and boarded up.
“We have seen the closure of the post office and other businesses over the years. No one is opening up and anyone who has closed is staying closed,” he said.
Mr Taylor owns and operates Food Capers with his
wife Breda, and he described this week’s closure as “heartbreaking”.
